In [[RHCS]], rgmanager is the Resource Group (Service) Manager. It controls starting, stopping, migrating, relocating and recovering services within the cluster.

It has three conceptual parts; Failover Domains, Resources and Services.

* Failover domains are collections of one or more nodes that services can be assigned to. A service does not require a failover domain, but when one is used, the domain can be used to provide preferred nodes, restricted sets of nodes that the service may run on and other customization options.
* Resources are components that can be used in one or more services and can be used to build service trees.
* Services are a collection of one or more resources, either ordered or set to start simultaneously, that may be assigned to a failover domain. A service is what is started, stopped, recovered, etc.
