'''Alteeve's Niche! Inc.''' is looking for a ''senior Linux system administrator'' for our [http://goo.gl/maps/x180F Toronto, Ontario, Canada] office. You will principally be responsible for the day to day operation of our infrastructure (on-site and remote). You will assist with client and partner support requests as needed. Your professionalism with customers and partners is exemplary.  You take pride in completing projects with the highest quality and pay acute attention to detail.
 
== Skills ==
 
* Strong Communications skills with written and oral proficiency in English. Multilingual fluency, particularly in French or Spanish, a strong plus.
* An excellent demeanour with customers, peers and co-workers is absolutely essential.
* Expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS versions 5 and 6 required.
* Strong networking skills required (routing, switching, bridging, VPN [openvpn], firewall [iptables, shorewall], SSH, etc). Comfort with RS-232 connected devices a plus.
* Thorough documentation of projects, architecture, customer interactions, etc.
* Web and mail experience required (apache, postfix, dovecot, postgresql, perl, bind, etc).
* Experience with the Red Hat KVM hypervisor and the libvirtd suite a very strong plus.
* Experience with Red Hat Cluster Services (aka High-Availability Add-on) and/or Linbit's DRBD a strong plus. Experience with Pacemaker is a plus.
* Performance tuning and security experience in Red Hat / CentOS platforms a strong plus.
* Sysadmin experience with Microsoft, Solaris, *BSD and/or Unix environments a plus.
* Candidates who can demonstrate an active role in open source projects given preference.
 
== Responsibilities ==
 
* Maintain and develop our [[EL6]]-based infrastructure.
* Provide support assistance for our client's and partner's EL4, EL5 and EL6 environments.
* Assist with security and performance tuning of our “Anvil!” High-Availability platform.
* Monitor email alert system and provide prompt and competent support to clients as needed.
* Continued contribution to the improvement of our high availability solutions and services. Tuning our existing platform and researching and testing possible future technologies.
* Occasional travel to the USA and other countries.
 
Customer support is a small but vital part of this position. All technical employees are expected to assist a customer in trouble should the need arise.

Salaried position, $60,000 to $75,000/year, based on qualifications and experience.
