 AN!Wiki :: Spanning Tree Protocol

Spanning Tree Protocol is a protocol that prevents loops in switches. It accomplishes this by creating a logical path between any two points in a bridged network. In clustering, this can cause problems because it can prevent the proper propagation on multicast packets between cluster nodes.

  • Wikipedia has a very thorough and extensive article on this protocol.
