XCF (eXperimental Computing Facility) is the native file format used by the free GIMP image editing software. The GIMP is available as a free download for most Linux distributions, Microsoft's Windows and Apple's OS X operating systems. Given it's open source, free as-in-beer nature, it is the preferred graphics format used on Alteeve's Niche! projects.
