Alteeve Wiki :: CSS |
CSS is an acronym for Cascading Style Sheets, a sort of programming language designed to extend HTML by providing extended rendering instructions to compatible web browsers. The goal of CSS was to provide a method of improving the appearance of websites without fundamentally changing HTML. On browsers without CSS support, web pages should still render in a readable, if degraded state. In recent years, CSS has become widely adopted and is supported by all major web browsers. This ubiquity has left many websites no longer able to degrade gracefully, but in turn, CSS now provides for much richer design options than is possible with HTML alone.
