Alteeve Wiki :: SSD |
SSD stands for 'Solid State Drive'. These are like traditional Hard Disk Drives but instead of using a rotating magnetic platter, they use a flash RAM device. This allows the drive to be much more tolerant of motion as there is no risk of centripetal forces causing the read head on a tradition hard drive from contacting the rotating platters. SSD uses no moving parts.
